What is Suspended Scaffolding?
Suspended scaffolding, commonly referred to as a swing stage, is a motorized platform that hangs from the top of a building and can be raised or lowered to access vertical surfaces. Supported by outrigger beams or C hooks, it is widely used for façade repair, window replacement, inspection, and waterproofing work.
These platforms provide:
- Adjustable elevation for high-rise access
- Lightweight, flexible setup for limited ground space
- Modular platforms allow multiple configurations to suit the building shape
- Efficient mobility across multiple drop points
Best Uses of Suspended Scaffold
- Ideal for High-Rise Façade Work: Swing stages reach where pipe scaffolds can’t—without blocking sidewalks or using extensive ground space.
- Faster Setup, Minimal Disruption: Suspended scaffolding can often be installed within hours, reducing interference with street-level traffic or building occupants.
- Cost-Effective for Vertical Access: More affordable than full-height pipe scaffolds for tall buildings or limited drop areas.
- Perfect for Local Law 11 Compliance: Enables hands-on inspection and repair access to comply with FISP close-up requirements.
- Precise & Flexible: Operators can stop the platform at any height, allowing detailed repairs or inspection work on individual façade elements.
